Proxy Help
So I find myself in need of a proxy. I can use a web proxy, but those are pretty bad most of the time, and most require you to pay to actually get any real benefit from them... I know how to use them, and a quick google search brings up hundreds of free proxys, but most seem not to work well, if at all.
I don't have much experience with using them, so any help would be awesome. |
hidemyass.com works great for me in a pinch.
If you use a proxy that you set in your browser connection settings, don't log in to anything. You run a big risk of having that data logged. |

I second and support Tor as well. I run my client as a node.
The portable version of it works great when you are in a bind. It has PortableApps.com Firefox Portable (and instant messenger Pidgin Portable) preconfigured to work with the Vidalia onion router (Tor interface). |
Ew. Oh hell no. I wouldn't share my connection with anyone. My LAN is like Shangri' La. You've heard of it, you know it must exist, yet you see no proof of it and you will never visit it. That goes for you, my next door neighbor, some kid in Australia that hacked a client server recently, and any bookish kid in china that thinks hacking Americans is funny. Give them a port, and they will find a way to bust out of it and see more than you intended. Every time. I'd rather be tracked than hacked.

You can try "Proxy Switcher", it searchs the proxy including anon proxy and test it.
It can change proxy settings of your browser on the fly :) www.proxyswitcher.com |
