setting up a yahoo email account in outlook express
i was wondering if you can set up your yahoo account in outlook express. and if so how? more specifically the specific mail server.
it seems to only support hotmail for the http type email acounts cheers |
you used to be able to for free. i think that they charge now (or maybe it's that you can only receive emails, not send them).
anyway, the incoming server is pop.mail.yahoo.com and the outgoing is smtp.mail.yahoo.com (this is what i used back in the day when i imported yahoo to oe, i'm pretty sure it's the same) anyone wanna verify this?? |
I'm not 100% but I don't think you can do that now.

"You recently attempted to retrieve your Yahoo! Mail messages using a POP3 client such as Outlook Express. Yahoo! Mail no longer provides free POP3 Access or Auto Mail Forwarding to Yahoo! Delivers subscribers.
If you would like to continue using Mail Forwarding or POP3 Access, please sign up for our improved package that allows you to: Use Outlook, Eudora, or another POP3 client to access and manage your Yahoo! Mail. Automatically forward your Yahoo! Mail to another email account -- even another Yahoo! address. Send larger attachments, now up to 5MB instead of the free 1.5MB limit. Send email without the Yahoo! promotional text at the bottom.* " |
Like others have said it used to be free but now you have to pay for it.
You can use YahooPOPs! to do it for free though. Just download and install it. Then read the included instructions for configuring Outlook Express. |
Yeah... I don't think you can POP it without paying anymore...
|
i know you can't use pop3 anymore, but there is an option to use a http type account, but there is only a hotmail and other option. I was wondering if you can do it that way? using http and not pop3.
i thought the http server was http://mail.yahoo.com but that doesn't seem to work. I think hotmail works or there is a hotmail option for http because MS owns it or something. i don't think i am gonna pay for yahoo pops either... |
