Satelite Receiver

So I have a Dish network. I have a Vip622 HD DVR. And I wake up this morning and I hear this humming noise. Kinda sounds like when it updates its self. But it goes on for like 15 mins and usually only takes about 3 and It always does it at 3am and this was 7:30am. Also it wasn't displaying anything on the TV and it usually displays a screen saver on the TV.

So I reboot it and it starts working. Then about 10 mins later the image just drops and it starts making that noise again. The only light on the front that is on is TV1 green light. And that light blinks once in awhile. So I reboot again and nothing. I have tried rebooting it about 10 times. Letting it sit for a few mins to maybe cool down or something. Nothing.

Any ideas? Is my receiver fried? Is there anyway to actually trouble shoot it?

Also the hard drive was pretty full but it had been pretty full for about a year with no issues.

Just to restate the obvious, I would try the holy grail--it seems, anyway--of power cord reset, hard reboot, and smart card reseat before you start worrying about anything serious. Also there is a diagnostic screen to check hard drive temperatures in the menu should you be able to get to it. I mention this only because I've read that much like their desktop counterparts intensive heat will force the system to shut down and not immediately power back up.

I have the same model and when mine started acting up, I had to call DISH for a replacement because of a hard drive failure--at least, that's what the guy in the spiffy rig told me during the service call and who am I to doubt him? I didn't get any picture at all, however, so maybe yours is something completely unrelated.
