PS3 Won't Network

I can't get the family's PS3 to work on a secured connection without having a code argument with our router.

Here's the hardware:

PS3 ()
Linksys Wireless G router (also )
And an ooold (really an old-ish) custom-assembled tower. ()

And everything else put on the system is compatible:
the tower,
two laptops,
two DS';

I bet that even my old PS2 adapter'll work just fine, hardwired in with all that.

So we've narrowed the problem down and think that either we should hardwire the PS3 in, or do something that we're not sure is quite possible, short of loading Linux onto it.

Can we put router software directly onto the system?
