Can I Jailbreak iPod Touch 2G?
Has anyone done this? I just got an iPod Touch 2G 32Gb, and I'd love a way to not use Itunes. I freaking hate the proprietary software that Apple and M$ try to force on you. I don't want to use iTunes as my default player, and I hate that the only choices I have to sync the iPod with calendar are for Outlook. BTW, I'm running firmware 2.2.1. Oh, and I'm using XP SP3.

Yeah I've had it since you were able to do the non-tethered jailbreak and I love it. Cydia i pretty sweet and the new themes are a million times better than the original.

So here's what I did. Google "jailbreak ipod touch 2g". You'll get loads of info. I used Quickfreedom, and some stuff from hackulo.us. Follow the instructions, there are a few videos to help. If you mess it up, just restore everything in iTunes. It took me a couple of tries, but I was successful. If you use the installous and cydia packages, which leads you to appulous (like the app store), remember that you have to download one free app and install it from the App Store first. After that everything syncs with iTunes.
