I'm on Safari to shoot me some Firefox

I recently updated the Mac version of Firefox to a version of 3.0.8 (yesterday and again today). It's been crashing on me every few actions.

Every time I pull a window off of the tray, switch between Dreamweaver and Firefox via "Preview Website," or have a popup come up, etc., it just craps out on me.

Does anybody else have this problem? It happens repeatedly like it's highly volatile or something.

If you use OSX, don't update.

If you use PC, you might want to hold off.

Yeah, it's been noticeably less stable with me, too. I'm going back to Safari for the time being.

I'm running 3.0.8 without problems on my PC.

Wonder if it's a Mac-only problem?

I'm running 3.0.8 without too many problems, but I notice that photoshop is crashing on me more often (twice today). I crashed Firefox the other day before the upgrade, but my partner's browser just crashed.

You'd think this day and age it would be "stability first." I wonder what gives. I read they released 3.0.8 early.

I have both Windows and OSX and Firefox 3.0.8 installed on both. On Windows it's super stable, on OSX not so much. I've noticed that Firefox doesn't seem to like my Mac in general though so I don't know if my experience can be taken to heart.

I'm running today's branch build of Firefox 3.5. I had one crash two days ago, but apart from that, nothing in months.

If you prefer not to go beta, take a scan through Standard diagnostic - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base for the basic "how to fix bad stuff" steps.

Here's something that worked for me (so far):
I uninstalled two add-ons I wasn't really using.

(The StumbleUpon and Google toolbars seem okay, however.)

I understand that some add-ons lose their compatibility with new Firefox versions. Apparently, in my case, they were crashing it with nearly every basic function.

If anyone else is (still) having trouble, I recommend either uninstalling or disabling add-ons you have installed that might be causing problems. I suppose you'll have to wait for the developers to come out with updates.

for some reason firefox wont let me install the updated versions of my add-ons.

Are you using the latest version of Firefox? If not, there might be a version compatibility issue. Otherwise, are you getting error messages of any sort?

SSJTWIZTA 04-29-2009 08:22 AM

yeah, im using the latest version. there is a message, ill post it next time it pops up (which shouldnt be too long)

uugh 3.0.10 sucks.

ever since it installed it's slow and crashes like crazy. even simple stuff like youtube doesn't like it very much.
