Adobe Flash Player assistance please
This just happened in the past couple of days and I have spent hours trying to get it to work. All of a sudden, everything says I am required to update my flash player (to version 10). Of course nothing works until I can update. A dozen times I get to the Adobe site, click update, click on "Allow Active X control" and wait but nothing. I never see the successful completion flash.
So, I now go into troubleshooting and download the uninstaller flash player program, run it and then download the Install Flash Player Active X .zip and run it. Nothing. Then I try to reset my Security features in my Internet tools, try it again, and again nothing. Running IE7, Windows Vista Home Premium. I guess I'm not the only one; over a million hits regarding this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
Not exactly a fix for your problem, but maybe try ditching IE7 for Firefox 3. It's a better browser anyway, and the Flash problem might go away. Or, if you just HAVE to use IE, maybe try upgrading to IE8.

I find that FF doesn't work with all my flash needs either, having followed that same advice... ditch IE7 etc. etc.
No.. I still have to use multiple browsers from time to time. I've had to uninstall Adobe Flash from the control panel and not the uninstaller program. |
Thanks so far. I've been checking around and this seems to be a pretty big problem for many people. And many are very angry with Adobe, including me. I didn't actually do anything upon myself to get into this predicament. One day I could watch YouTube and the next nothing played and it told me to update my flash player. Jeez. I did get it to work last night with FireFox and for that I am happy.
However, I am a problem solver and now I have this problem with IE and Flash 10 I would like to get it solved someday. So, I will keep my eyes and ears posted online and see what happens. Maybe there will be a patch or new version 10 someday. Until then, If you, my fellow Tilters have a solution, please let me know. Thanks for your support. |
Had the same issue with same results. I think this is what I did to get it to work, which it eventrually did, but honestly, I can't say this is the final, I tried so many things. Uninstalled every Flash through Windows Control Panel. Restarted Windows. Then I ran the Flash uninstaller that you referred to. Restarted Windows. Then I tried the install again. Good luck.
