Pata + Sata For Raid0

So I picked up a nasty virus a few days ago and and after several unsuccessful attempts at removing it, I've decided to back up and wipe my drives entirely. I know it's the easy way out but I haven't reinstalled my OS since I built the computer about a year ago so I'm overdue for a reinstall.

What I'm wondering is whether or not it'd be possible to place two drives that are exactly identical in brand and storage space in a raid0 array if one drive is a pata and the other is a sata drive? If it is possible, would it be worth it speed-wise?

I'll order another sata drive if necessary but it'd be sweet if I didn't have to.

Let's assume that it is possible then the speed gain would be minimal, since the PATA drive could/would create a bottleneck and force the SATA drive to wait for it.
The Raid would probable have to be software based as I havn't seen any hardware that allows mixed interface, and software raid is slower than hardware.

Generally Raid0 should be used with care since all data will be lost if one drive fails.

Zweiblumen, I guess it serves me right for being such a cheap bastard when storage memory is dirt cheap these days. I just got a really good deal on two terabytes worth storage in external drives and I'm going to set it all up for regular backups so I'm not too worried about data loss in the event of a drive failure.

I'll suck it up and order a new sata drive. Thanks for responding.
