DVD copy protection problems

Recently my I think dvds have been using some new copy protection normally not a problem except for the fact that this new stuff is stopping dvds from being watched on 2 out of 3 of the dvd players in my house. Seems to be mostly disney movies but now more often others as well. I know its a problem with the copy protection because if i make a copy of the movie and remove the copy protection it plays fine in all the dvd players. Odd stuff happens with the orignal like it will skip whole chapters or play them in the wrong order. The main dvd player is a LG RC199h dvd vhs combo. And of course they have no firmware updates for it.

So basicly the copy protection is stopping us from doing everything but... making a copy of the movie. I really dont want to have to make copies of movies just to watch rentals. Just drives me nuts. I know nothing can really be done without a firmware update to fix it So im really just wondering if anyone else has had any trouble with this. Anyone run into anything like this?

I wish I had something more constructive to say, but all I can do is laugh.

LoL yeah its sad and pretty screwed up. If it was just one dvd player or even just one brand dvd player it would be different. But two brands two different dvd players. Thats just messed up.

I don't really have any help for you, just questions.

Are the DVD players old? Are all the rentals coming from one place? Is it possible that the rentals could be less than retail quailty (meaning they could be bootlegs themselves and messed up by whoever ripped them?)

I have 2 older DVD players and have never had any problems with anything I have bought or rented and I used to have Netflix and ran through a lot of movies from them over the years. One is an old Sony 5 disk and the other is an old RCA

Both the ones that dont work are less then 3 years old but the one that does work is about 5 years old. A LG vhs/dvd recorder and a sony 5 disk changer are the ones that dont work. but my 5 year old phillips dirt cheap machine works fine. The dvds are all from netflix and they are almost always in perpfect condition because we rent them to get them the first day they are on dvd.
