Cell Phone Rings that don't suck
I don't want Eminem's latest song...I want my phone to RING. I just got a LG VX4400 today, and the ringtones blow chunks.
All the sites I've found online only have songs, and mostly bad ones at that. Anyone know of something I can do? Get It Now only seems to have bad music, too... MPEDrummer |
though some of this is technically warez stuff....

I don't have an answer for you, just sympathy.
I got an Audiovox 8500 a few weeks ago. The least annoying ring tone it has sounds like the emergency room heart monitor going flat-line and screaming for attention. The wireless company I got it from offers nothing but songs by people I've never heard of. Bah. What ever happened to "brrrrring"? |
I feel for you guys. I too hate the fact that cell phone companies and carriers are more concerned about stupid ring tones and camera phones and shit, and not concerned about getting quality of service and coverage. I have a Panasonic EB-TX310 (love it) and it has serveral "old fashioned" ring tones.

I was surfing http://www.versiontracker.com the other day and one piece of shareware I came across allowed you to take any song and turn it into a (MIDI? ) compatible ring for cell phones. It sounded kinda complex, and I don't have a cell phone so it'd be pointless for me, but if you have the time and know-how, you can create a killer ring.

put it on vibrate.
then put it on silent ring. i know its a bit of a nazi option, but i really canīt stand any ring tones. but thanks for these sites, hopefully there can be one that tickles my fancy. |
I prefer the regular, normal, ring.
It is not (too) annoying or unusual. |
At last... MORE people who hate ring tones.
I want a ring. A loud ring... and that's all. For heaven's sake. <grin> Philip |
Vibrate followed by a ring... I hate anything but a ring. All I want is an ordinary ring.

Just to continue the pointless whining (or
whinging for those of you in the UK), the vibrate setting isn't effective. Because now that the phones are so small, they don't have enough room to throw any kind of weight around, so I can't feel the vibration when the phone is in my pocket. I suppose I could try strapping it to my Gentleman's Personal Appendage, but that yields a new set of problems: 1) How to explain myself when answering a call in public. 2) How to pay the airtime bill for calling myself several hundred times a day. |
I WIN!!
Data cable and some MIDI files. BAM. MPEDrummer |
I know it's a song but 'funky town' by Lipps Inc. is my ringtone.
Don't everyone get it though, 'cos then it'll suck. OK. |

Amen to that. They're catering to the wants of stupid teenagers that don't know what they want, let alone what they need. |
I have a Samsung that plays silly barnyard animals noises and concertos. I did a google search and found <a href="http://www.matrixm.com/asp/media/ringers/default.asp?genreid=996&mediatype=9&sortid=3&page=24">this place</a>.
Some are free, others you can swap. My high tech choice for primary (recognised numbers) is a basic "ring". You know, a ring, like the phones I grew up with. |
I found a great site for free ring tones if you have a wap enabled phone w/ polyphonic ring tones!!
www.polyphonicringtonez.com Just go to the site on your computer, get the ID code for the tone you want and then go to the site on your phone, enter the code and you can download it right to your phone. |
I used the polyphonic A-Team ring tone. Sounds good.
