Many times I can't here quiet scenes in movies.
Is there any software out there that will allow me to increase the volume?

Some media players have EQ control, and you can boost that way. I'm not sure about other software alternatives. You could look into pro-audio volume control solutions if it's a recurring problem.

Thank for the suggestion, I checked my VLC player and under EQ there's full treble and bass that seemed to really boost the sound. Now I'll have to try it on something I can't hear very well!
