Anyone know how to disable the document history on the start menu?
I dont like the history of my last documents/videos popping up when I go past documents on the start menu. Is there a way to hide this or to get rid of it fully?
Any help is greatly appreciated |

I know this has been answered before but this is weird. I did what The Dude said and XP is still saving my recent documents.
I don't understand! What steveincolumbus tells me to do is over my head. Thanks for trying Steve.

Dunno if you've tried this, but try altering the security properties of the "C:\Documents and Settings\<your profile>\Recent" directory and disallow everyone's write access. Haven't tried it myself, but it's worth a shot. That's where XP seems to keep its recent item shortcuts.

Brewmaniac:
what steveincolumbus was referring to was registry hacking. Start > Run > regedit *hit enter* what he has, are the keys, just follow them left to right, expanding the little plus. just be sure to back up your registry before you make any changes.
