Post your desktop!
Main rig, running an X session remotely from the freeBSD box as well.
This is at the san jacinto river, which runs east and south of my neighborhood. http://www.texasoverclockers.com/mod...-08_bsd_sm.jpg |

Jesus sneezus, mike. That's an intense wallpaper.
|
|
Cool mike, same one I use for my fluxbox config on the BSD box :)
|
cybermike, what is that wallpaper? I must have it!
|
The Texan has a picture of a serene (presumably Texan) river, the Californian of a serene beach, and the NCarolinian of a lightning storm. Does that mean that Cybermike lives i the 1580s?

Will, if that is the trend, we all want to move to Hal's place.
That wallpaper of Mike's is actually in my favorites @ deviantart.com: HMS Royal George by *Radojavor on deviantART edit: I also noticed at least 3 of us play COD4 lol. Mine isn't on the desktop or taskbar though... |

http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/572/desktopao5.th.jpg Nothing too interesting going on yet on mine. Normally have the Windows colors changed around a bit more but havnt got around to it yet since i just built the system a few days ago. Still in the testing/tweaking/installing phase of things. |
Ya know, I think I'd give my left nut to have a back yard that looked like that.

luciferase75 already linked the image used as my wallpaper.
I highly suggest you check out Radojavor's DeviantART page. Radojavor's deviantART Gallery His stuff is just amazing. I just wish I didn't have to stretch some of his other stuff to fit my screen |

LoganSnake, what kind of theme is that?
|
Here is my desktop with a remote X session over SSH to freeBSD and fluxbox running, with that wallpaper:
http://texasoverclockers.com/modules...fluxbox_sm.jpg It defaults to the widescreen since that is the primary. Love that wallpaper, the detail is insane. Love the colors too, because the theme there, the theme I use here, and the theme for my site are all nearly the same lol. |
*Nix nerds represent.
I am a simple man. Ubuntu with a Gnome desktop. I like the cleanliness of it. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c110/TGFM/desktop.jpg I keep intending to switch distros. I'm not particularly happy with Ubuntu, but I'm too busy/lazy right now to be testing out a bunch of others to find one that I like and that works for me. |
Try out LinuxMint. It is pretty much Ubuntu with all the third party apps pre-installed. It just works, and it works pretty well.
I wouldn't be able to post my screenshot right now. It is NSFW. Let's just say there are 6 Abby Winters girls standing in a stream... |

Gentoo Linux using Gnome:
http://i35.tinypic.com/15qzuc0.jpg Nothing fancy, but I like it. (And no, that's not a porn site in the task bar. I keep those on a separate desktop) |

no, you may not see my work phone lists. |
That's kinda a difficult question.. which desktop?
I'm running RHEL4 for dev stuff/work stuff, but I am tied to a Windows XP VM to run the internal Windows only apps which won't run in Linux/Wine, and I usually need VNC viewers to 2ish machines open to monitor status.. so I don't really see my desktop. I'm not really sure which desktop I would even look for, since I have three taskbars, usually. I hadn't seen my Windows one in a while, so I minimzed FF and you can kinda see it in the corner. I usually have Outlook up full screen on that VM anyway, so I don't generally *see* a desktop.. it's just a lot of alt-tabbing and switching between machines.. At any rate, Windows has an Astronomy Picture of the Day of a full solar eclipse where the sun is visible and (oddly) purple around the edges. http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/111...desktopvr8.jpg Had to redact a few things to protect the innocent.. -----Added 11/9/2008 at 07 : 06 : 20----- After I posted I was actually curious what my main machine's desktop was when I closed everything down, so I did and turns out.. it's just a plain black one. But if switch to desktop 2 and close everything, I have this: http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/2...rythingsf7.jpg |
Nice, nice :)

No other Mac users?

I thought the Mac v. PC thread established that Mac users are evil and bad.

New screenshot now that i have had a bit of time to tweak the way things look. A lot easier on the eyes then with standard windows default colors.
