Firefox Question
This maybe in the wrong place or may be answered somewhere else. If so, sorry, I looked around I couldn't find it else where so...
I recently updated to Foxfire 5.0. Everything seems normal. I have no issues while running, least not that I notice. However when I close out the program I get a crash report notice. I don't see where it's causing me anything other then an inconvenience when I close out. I get a pop up window on the desktop asking me if I want to send a crash report. I have to answer that question, it seems, before I can shut down my laptop. Anyone else having anything like this, or am I screwed up as usual?

You mean Firefox 3.0, right? Mozilla 5.0/Firefox 3.0?
Mike's ideas are good. If you really want to KNOW what the cause is, you can try some troubleshooting steps. Disabling extensions and themes that may not be 100% compatible. In the end, as long as it works while you're using it, who cares?

Yeah, I've decided it doesn't matter. Just another step in closing down. I "dinked" around with it last night, tried some of the steps listed. Honestly it's working, as you noted, I'm certain I don't know enough about it. I'm going to stick with the tried and true theory of "if it ain't broke don't fix it." Thanks for the input guys.

I use Nero for writing/copying CD's and DVD's and resizing photo's. If I open and use the photo editor on Nero I get a message almost like the one Fire Fox produces. I may have shut down the Nero program an hour prior but when I go to shut down windows a message appears on the desk top stating "Nero Photosnap is not responding. Do you want to close it now?" Until I answer that question I can not shut down windows. If I shut down by powering off, ie pushing the power button, when I turn the computer back on I get a message stating "windows did not shut down properly last time, do you want to start in safe mode?" I wonder if something isn't askew in my reg.?

If you shut down using the power button, in the case of the 4 sec. power down (usually, some BIOS' defaults are auto-off), you will always get a message about Windows not shutting down properly. That's actually correct behavior. And if you've had Windows installed for more than, say... 3 months, you almost definitely have something retarded with your registry. That's just par for the course.

Did you have the beta installed? Once I had a problem, and I think it was solved after removing all the files from the beta and reinstalling the finalized 3.0

tully: if'n i was you, i'd pull up my task manager before i shut down next time, and verify that the program/process it's bitching about is still running after i think i've shut it down.
now, what i would do with that information, i'm not certain of. some sort of google-fu on processes not shutting down when i've killed them. i would probably, for shits and giggles - and assuming you have the program/process still running after you think you've killed it - is to kill that process, then shut down and see if i get the crash report. that way i'd know it was because the program was failing to completely kill itself when i asked it to close. then i'd more than likely go back to just canceling the report option when i closed the program.

Try uninstalling it again, then go to (XP) Documents and Settings\{your_user_name}\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\, or (vista) \Users\ACIDRAIN\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\ and delete everything. Might want to backup your bookmarks first. Delete any instance of mozilla under (XP) local settings\application data, application data, or (vista) local and roaming. Something in your profile may be corrupted, or in the related directories. I don't think FF uses the old profile folder on a new install, but it may be worthwhile deleting it anyways, or move it to a new location.
