Camcorder Help. Sorta Urgent
Okay, my dad's birthday is in 6 days and my mom wants to buy him a camcorder. Due to convenience issues, she wants to get a DVD one and asked me to see which one to get. I don't know anything about camcorders, so I need some help with deciding what to get. Must be sold at a brick and mortar store. Price up to $350.
Help! |
This little Sony's at the top of the budget but based on consumer ratings here, sounds like a good one. I find that checking out consumer opinions and reading both the positives and negatives gives a good idea of what would work for me. Good luck and do let us know what you choose and how he likes it. Happy Birthday to your dad :D

That's the one we were looking at at Best Buy last night. Decided to shop around to see if we could find it for cheaper. It's a definite contender so far.

I don't know how things have improved over the years, but a guy at work had one of those DVD recorder ones and he said that there was a time limit that after you stopped recording you couldn't move the camera around too much or you would mess up the recording so he took it back. This might be something to look into and see if things have improved since then.

there's also the finalizing of the DVD that needs to be completed before using it in a computer. that's problematic IMO since you can't just take out the media and play it in your computer immediately.
that is unless that changed in the past 2 years. While DV does require you to convert it as a transfer, you can take the tape, play it on the TV immediately. |
I did some quick research and finalizing only takes a few seconds to pop it straight into the DVD player. We ended up buying the camcorder jewels linked to. Best Buy had it for $300 (while it was still $350 two days before).
Also, these new cameras seek empty space no matter where you stopped and go from there. |
