Desktop or Laptop
I know, this is an age old question but what I want to know is, what would you reccommend a desktop or a laptop for college, and maybe why you would choose one over the other.
|
well, what are you goin to use it for (i mean, is it mainly for homework? are you gonna be playing games? video conferencing??etc....)
2nd question, does your college offer wireless lan? |
If you are going to live there, don't need to have it with you at all times, theres no Wireless connections, you don't need to network or share info with others, play a lot of games: Get a Desktop.
If you commute, need it with you wherever you will go, theres a wireless network, you need to interact with others in the classroom, don't play a lot of processor heavy games: Get a Laptop. |
i think meanSpleen summed it up pretty nicely.

i have asked myself this many times in my life...could never decide, so i have both =P
|
Thanks for the info, I think I will get a desktop now and after seeing my colleges wireless network, I will get a laptop in 6 months.
|
good choice
|
You can't beat having both ;) If you do, you can afford to get a less powerful laptop - because you can still get all your essentials done on the road and come back to the main comptuer for the real grunt work.
Basically desktops have faster components, are better value for money and are easier (usually) to upgrade and/or fix. Laptops are obviously a more elegant portable solution, hold their value longer. |
