Dual DVI KVM Switch

Anyone have any notions about these very rare beasts? Ratings on Newegg are kind of hit or miss since there aren't alot of buyers of these things.

I've seen a few different makes, 2 port Dual DVI KVM.

The specs are going to be hooking up a PC and a Mac Pro to the KVM.

PC will be used for gaming, the Mac for Final Cut Pro.

Can't say much - I've only used two KVMs personally, both were VGA, and both were horrible. I don't have a lot of respect for those things, whether it be DVI or VGA. I've heard there are good ones out there, though.

With KVMs you get what you pay for. I've not had much luck with the cheap ones and I've NEVER tried a dual-monitor KVM.

The KVMs we use at work are cost prohibitive though. $800+

If I may make a recommendation for an alternative to a physical KVM switch. I had multiple computers that I frequently worked between and was quite happy with this program.

Synergy lets you easily share a single mouse and keyboard between multiple computers with different operating systems, each with its own display, without special hardware. It's intended for users with multiple computers on their desk since each system uses its own monitor(s).

Redirecting the mouse and keyboard is as simple as moving the mouse off the edge of your screen. Synergy also merges the clipboards of all the systems into one, allowing cut-and-paste between systems. Furthermore, it synchronizes screen savers so they all start and stop together and, if screen locking is enabled, only one screen requires a password to unlock them all. Learn more about how it works.
For more commercial variants, see here: opengear- Virtual KVM.

That works great if you have multiple monitors; not so well if you only have one. I would recommend using Remote Desktop, VNC or X11 forwarding and save your money.

I do have multiple monitors but I need the speed of the refresh to be at the monitor and not across the wire. It won't be good for gaming or video playback as a solution (depending on which computer is #1)

I use VNC for my computer to computer needs, that works for me very well for solving many solutions for many years now.

But this is something completely different, as one is going to be used for gaming and the other used for video editing.
