Dell XPS and Linux Live CD
Hi all. I have built my own computers for over a year. But U have recently bought a Dell XPS 410. How can I boot to a Linux CD or DVD? Help. Thanks.
Um, over a year was meant to be over ten years. Um, over a year was meant to be over ten years. |
You should be able to boot from your cd drive when it is starting up. You have two options:
1) Make sure the boot order has the cd/dvd drive prior to your hard drive 2) During system startup, hit whatever function key it will take to get you to a boot options screen and choose the cd/dvd drive (I think for Dell's its F8) Of course, your linux cd will need to either be a live cd or a bootable install cd. |
Got it working. Only problem I have now is lilo doesn't come up with a choice of OS. I have to go into BIOS every time I boot. Weird. Dell XPS 410. Ideas?
