Retrieving programs from external HD
My old pc died and a friend took my HD and put in an external box, mainly to retrieve my hugh music collection.
I would like to use my nero burning software but not sure what files to grab. These are the the only exe files I could find in Nero program folder. Is one of these the set-up I need?

That must be some ancient version of Nero. Download the latest trial version.

It's a 15 day trial after which, I believe, the program won't allow you to burn stuff. There are always ways around that, but the moral decision is up to you.
Here's a link to the download: http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads-nero8-trial.php

Imgburn for cds too? In their demos they just refer to img never mp3 or audio file. I'm sure it's a dumb question but I've downloaded enough programs that didn't do what I intended or I couldn't figure out to fill a dumpster!

I don't quite understand what the OP did, however that does not look like Nero was ever installed on that PC if those are the only two EXEs in the whole of the ahead folder.

2. Of course - I realise this. However, there's no reason why the registry entries wouldn't still be there according to what the OP said. Seemed like he'd just put his applications partition on an external drive. The solution is to either give that drive the same letter as his original applications partition or just copy the files over to the original location. |

Just to clear it up - the nero toolkit does not burn CD's, or much of anything.
The CDSpeed just tests the media (cd's dvds) to see what kind they are, whether they are writeable or rewritable, and whats the maximum speed at which you can burn them DriveSpeed tests the speed of the cd/dvd drive, what types it can burn, what manufacturer, and junk like that. As for an alternative, I would say NO to ImgBurn. I only use it for burning ISO's and other cd/dvd images. I use Infrarecorder. It is better for general data or file storage. Infrarecorder can be found here -> http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net
