I can do it in Netscape but not in Explorer... - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

Heres the deal, at work we are all using Windows NT (over 3000 machines) and of course if I use Internet Explorer and log into something that is sexual it will not let me view the web page.

But when I use Netscape I can get into anything, why is that?

Does this mean big brother can not see what I'm doing and where I've been?

Or am I about to be fired!?

Thanks and who's hiring!?

Most likely IE is set up to use a proxy server that can filter based on keywords or content. Netscape was not configured to use the proxy. You can verify this by disabling proxy in IE and checking various web pages that were blocked before.

Having said that, it is clear that at work they do not want you viewing certain content. You might consider, for the sake of your continued employment, respecting that.

Proxy servers and content filters all have viewable logs. Yes, it is likely that a company that blocks access to some sites also monitor the sites that employees visit.

Okay, I understand. Now, when I visit a site called Dildodrive.com its pretty obvious as to what I'm looking at. But when I visit a site through the titty board is it as obvious to Big Brother?

I only ask that because it seams this board has threads and post ID#s not web address, so looking at where I've been may show a lot TFProject.org hits, but not really clear on what I'm looking at.

Please keep in mind I know nothing of what I'm speaking about, and am approaching this as a blank slate, so sorry for the ignorance that may come out....

Hrm... I'm not too sure on this, but I'm fairly sure only URLs get logged (of course, content sent could be logged as well, but that's a little heavy to look through, plus, could be invasion of privacy depending on where you are). So if you just read posts and stuff on here, you should be fine, unless your employer decides to question why you are on a forum instead of working

As for the titty board, afaik, the images are externally linked. So sometimes you get nice vague urls, but then sometimes pictures are hosted on something like FreeXXXPicHosting.Com or something like that.

That's true. All of the posts are hosted elsewhere, and they could have urls such as "Dildodrive.com." Just be careful what you do at work. It's not worth losing your job.

Any company with 3000 pc's is going to log web traffic, the place I work for only has about 350 PC's and I know we log it. But the thing you have going for you is that logging and going through 3000 pc's worth of web traffic is a lot of work. But if I liked my job I wouldln't do it. And I don't.
