ip address

im not much of a computer whiz, but i kno that everytime you log on via dial up, your computer's ip addy changes. is there anyway to change several times during 1 session (meaning w/out having to reconnect)?

The_Dude 06-22-2003 07:57 PM

what operating system do you use?

illdeviant 06-22-2003 08:02 PM

sorry. home edition of XP

johnyto 06-22-2003 08:35 PM

damn, tough one, i am not sure, i'd say go to accessories->command prompt->type ip config and whatever it gives u use it to find out through www.ggogle.com, how to do what you want. I'd love to help, but i may find this for myself, too... Good luck.

would changing poxies during a session do it?

happymaan is right on track, the only way you could do this would be to do things through different proxies.

cheerios 06-23-2003 12:35 AM

long and short of it: no. you can spoof it via proxies, but your personal IP assigned by the router you connect to the internet via will not change. gotta disconnect and reconnect, and even then, you may receive the same one back again.

You could try an "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew" from a command prompt. cheerios is right though, you'll probably get the same IP address back again.

haha. ok thanks guys. even if you could i dont think your descriptions would help at all. im limited in my PC skills. thx anyways, guys!

Who are you trying to hide you ip from your internet provider,or the site you are visting

If you are trying to hide it from your internet provider forget it

Now if you are trying to hide it from the website you are visting
There are a number off different programs out there that will rotate your proxies every time you click on a link.
The trick is to get a good list of proxies that dont forward your ip or leak it

But even then you are not complety safe if a webmaster wants to they can still track you down through the logs of the proxie provider

Most webmasters will not go to the trouble of doing that
If you need any more ifo give me a shout and i will point you in the right direction
