software weirdness, please help! (adobe premiere, regcleaner)
I've been I've upgraded my system to a faster P4 2.4 system.
Now that it's all up and running, I've installed premiere 6.5 and I keep getting crashes. When I boot up the program, after I pick a format to start editing, it shuts down and I end up at my desktop. I read somewere to configure premiere as "windows nt 4.0 compatible" I tried that, and there's no crashing right away, but then it keeps saying that "dv device is unavailable for device control" after I try to set it up in the device control menu. I never had these problems with my slow p3 800!! What can I try to get this to work?? My system is as follows: P4 2.4c asus p4p800 motherboard 512mb ram onboard firewire windows xp pro premiere 6.5 Then this weirdness happened; I tried to install regcleaner and clean up all the old premier files, guess what, regcleaner won't load. It just gives me the hourglass like it's about to start up and then nothing shows up. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both of these programs with no luck. Any ideas???!!?? |

yeah that is what happened to me on my new system. went from Windows Me and 750 Athlon running 6.5 worked fine. Then to xp and a xp 2500 and it wouldnt work at all just like you say, sometimes it would get to the timeline but hardly anything, then i went down to 6.0 and it worked fine. i actually never installed it i just copied over the old installation from the old drive and it worked "fine". Not sure why i can't use 6.5 on XP. Any one know why?
