Recognition problem
My computer won't recognize a DVD player or a sound card I'm trying to upgrade with. The motherboard is an Abit NF7-SG2, athlon 2700 processer.
The Dvd is an ide connection and the sound card is a pci unit (creative soundblaster live) The dvd is a Samsung oem unit. I tried to use a different pci slot it made no change still no sound and it is not even seen by the computer. The dvd unit I tried to make it the master or the slave but it wouldn't recognize it. Any help would be very helpful I would like to thank you all. P.S. I even bought a second sound card same thing and a new dvd is on the way as well. Do you have any known good PCI cards? If other PCI cards don't function on the board, it's a possiblity the motherboard is bad, as for the DVD player, if its not seen in "my computer." is it seen in the device manager at all? Sometimes you'll see where the drive is seen in DM but not in my computer, and usually it's an upper/lower filter issue, are any of these drives seen in the BIOS?
