New Computer (not a brag thread)
Hey everybody. I got all my shipments from Newegg yesterday. I started the build at 2000 and finished with complete WinXPsp2 at approximately 2330, making my very first complete build go off without a hitch in about 3.5 hours. Worked first try which was a shock to me, no pun thank goodness. The new system is as follows.
old parts- CoolerMaster Case ATA133 60G Maxtor Combo Drive new parts- SATA300 250G Seagate Biostar TForce6100 AM2 AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Brisbane 2.2GHz AM2 65W mushkin 2 x 1GB SAPPHIRE Radeon X1950PRO 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 I might be forgetting something. Anyway, this thing screams compared to my old pc... or any PC I've ever come into contact with for that matter. Anyway, to the point lol. I just wanted to say that TFProject is the greatest resource when building a computer, second only to Newegg. Because of the expertise, and high level of respect the users treat each other with, I was able to get reliable answers to all my questions without getting flamed for asking, like so many other forums. I'm glad I've been a member here as long as I have. Special thanks to Lasereth for the Video Card buyers guide and numerous other helpful posts. Next step, figure out what game to play with my new power. Beh lets be serious, I'm sure I'll just end up browsing the titty board anyway.

Thanks all. I did upgrade my monitor too, btw. I got a 19" Glossy high res, SUPER bright LCD panel. ...and yeah, the porn is fantastic on it.
Lasereth: Very strange. I have to tell you I feel a lot more accomplished on my choices now knowing that I have selected the same proc and video card as you. BTW, I had some issues last night twice where it seemed like my CPU or GPU was very unhappy. When World of Warcraft was open for a minute, it couldn't even keep up with my typing, let alone the video. Restarted the computer, and bam, back to full tilt screaming computer again. Wierd. I don't know what causes that, but I think I'll go for some new video drivers tonight.

Awesome! That's a good setup. I haven't upgrade in a long time. I yearn for that feeling you have when you build a nice PC that will last a while.
