Theorycraft: New computer.
Ok so i'm hearing a lot of good things about quadcore and 64bit operating systems.
I'm moving to seattle in a few days, and my 1st thing on my list to focusing on my new hobby is to set up a music production rig. I want this thing to be a beast, and if I have to save up 6 months for it, so be it. I figure if I save the money instead of buy 1 part per month as I tend to do with all my computers, ill probably save more in the long run due to shipping and such. so basically i'm looking at recommendations. What kind of price point do you think i'd come in at if i'm looking at these specs Quadcore processor (don't care how fast, it's the least important aspect to what I do in most cases) 4GB of RAM Motherboard that supports PCIex, SATA, up to 8gb of ram and of course, a quadcore processor. SLI not necessary, i'm not buying 2 video cards. and, most imporantly, a professional audio sound card. I'll probably go all out with like a 20+inch flat panel widescreen monitor when I get it too. I'm thinking I should be able to come in under 1500$ if I look around (i haven't even started looking so that may be way high) One thing to note is that I prefer quality parts, the unmarked whitebox no warranty crap for 30$ off isn't what I go for, unless it comes from newegg, cuz they have an excellent system for exchanges anyway hehe. hrm... what would you go for for a processor and motherboard I guess is my question I can figure out the rest pretty easy, I just have been falling a bit behind on tech (need to renew my subscription to some of those hardware mags) |
