Broken Cannon Camera... need advice

Hi all,

(Not sure if this should go here or in photog.)

My Canon Powershot SD400 went down last week, and now doesn't seem to be working properly. It looks like there is something in the lens, but upon cleaning the problem remains.

Canon has a support service that will fix the camera for ~$100, has anyone used their support before? Was it worth it / are they reliable? (The camera is out of warranty.)

Can anyone suggest another company that might be able to fix my camera for me, for less then $400 (the cost of the camera when I bought it.)

Thanks a bunch.

Go with the Canon factory service. Expect to wait like 6-8 weeks.

Crompsin speaks the truth. However for point and shoot cameras, it's often not worth it. A repaired camera of that caliber will tend to have further problems down the road. Not that the SD400 is a bad camera, but point and shoots get less attention to quality components, and once they've been cracked open for surgery, they never seem to be the same. :-|
