What flavor of programmers are out there?
Beings I'm newer, and haven't had too much of a chance to interact a whole lot with everyone, I was kind of curious as to what kinds of programmers frequented the TFP forum here.
For me, I started out pretty hardcore PHP/Javascript for web, and C++ was my language of choice for client based apps. That changed when I got a couple contracts that were dotNet based solutions, so basically for the last 2 years I've been working almost completely in C# < insert M$ whore comments here > So what are you? ~Drego

I'm a web developer. I started working in Perl in '98, and went from being Web Developer to being Executive VP of one of the leading web development firms in the country. Then the bubble burst. I've been working for myself since '04, and everything I've done since I went independent was in PHP. I've just recently started working in Ruby on Rails.

I thought you meant types as in code-fix, cowboy, big-design, etc : )
But anyways... most of my work is with data warehousing projects (ie DW/BI/ETL), Oracle DB administration, SQL and (Oracle) PLSQL back-end coding/design. I've occasionally used VB, C, Java, SQL Server and Perl. Where I need file handling though, I usually use Korn shell. |

Basic C++ and Perl here, (mostly when I ran a MUD ages ago for the C++). I don't do anything professionally, but I do well enough when I need to cobble something together.

At work, c# (asp.net/webservices/windows services) with MSSQL 2000/2005. Personal and side projects range from c# (again asp.net/webservices/windows services) to php to perl using MSSQL or MySQL.

I use C# and Java. Bit of Python and this weird system called EPICS, which isn't really programming!
