trouble connecting my TV
hey everyone!
I just got myself a new receiver(pioneer elite) and I want to connect everything to it BUT i also want to be able to watch basic TV on it as well from the dish. right now, I have: Quote:
I want to bypass the receiver when other people use it to just watch crap like the news or w/e on TV. but still going through the dish. how can I do this? is there a way to split the signal half the time? i'm not sure!

I did the same thing that you are requesting.
I took one of the extra outs of the cable box (tuner) and then attached it directly to another input on the TV. You can also just use a splitter to handle it, there is some signal degredation but shouldn't be anything really visible.

ah yes. I didn't see that i could do that. (it's so fucking dark in the back that i didn't see it was input or output for those ... )
right now, i'm gonna do rca cables from dish to vcr. rca from vcr to receiver. and coax from dish to tv that way i can just watch tv that way. I hope that works.

Personally as a home theater buff I'd never even consider not making use of the sound sound system even if just watching the news. But I'm glad you found your solution although going for the dish to the vcr and then to the receiver seems a bit much, isn't there a better way?

well you see, the receiver and the speakers are mine. the tv is not so when someone else wants to use it, i don't want to have to let them use my receiver.
so I need a new solution to route the dish to the TV and to the Receiver. right now, i think i can set it up without the vcr since i never fucking use that thing.
