Computer restarts at XP load screen
When I turned on my computer this morning, I got the POST page that said asked me to choose whether to boot in various Safe modes or from the last working status or to just start regularly. You know, the one that has the 25 second timer for you to make a decision.
Anyhow, whatever choice I make, it goes into the Windows XP loading bar screen. Then at about the time it would be ready to load the desktop, the computer reboots itself and starts the same process over again. Any idea? I'm pretty good with computers but don't really know how to deal with this one. Maybe inserting the XP disk to do that whole repair funciton thing? Fwiw, I didn't have any problems with it lastnight and I did shut it off safely with the Shut Down key. |
Interesting
This sounds to me like a video issue. Basically what you might need to do is to boot safemode and reload your video driver......
Then it dawns on me that you said you couldn't boot no matter what mode you try. Very interesting. How old of an install is this, IE how ticked would you be if you had to do a restore? ~Drego |
Thanks a lot for the reply Drego.
I actually got advice to run XP's repair function via the XP cd and got things fixed! |
I was going to recommend the Repair function - many people think it's worthless, but it has saved me countless times -
I'll chalk this one up to another win for "Press R to Repair" Glad you got it fixed man! |
Just as a related note:
There are two things that have saved some of our (company i work for) customers computers more times than I can count: 1) MiniPE 2) Windows Repair! |
