Hard drive question
So I have this old PC that I don't really use anymore but it has a pretty good storage capacity (and it has all my old CD's I didn't feel like ripping onto this laptop). I was wondering if there's anyway I can make use out of the other hard drive? I would like some more room for programs on my laptop but a large amount of the space is being taken up by music. Anyway I could just store all my music onto the other (PC) hard drive and maybe just use it as an external hard drive?

Yeah you could buy an external hard drive casing. It turns a regular hard drive into a USB external hard drive. Then plug it into the USB port on your laptop and you're good to go.

don't spend more than $50 for one either. An external hard drive casing is not much more than these three things:
1) An IDE or SATA connection for your hard drive (you probably have a IDE connection since you mentioned it is an older computer) 2) Power 3) Either a metal or plastic shell/case Thats all there really is to it. Don't spend extra for any other features as they really are pretty much the same. |
Why not just plug into the PC via network cable and save to it that way?

power savings?

Thanks a lot for the answers, I'll end up getting the casing by the end of the week probably. If I have any other questions I'll be sure to ask/send a message to one of you.
Thanks again |
