Printer Is Spastic
I've got a Canon i560, a nice little printer that used to do fantastic photo and graphics printing. Then this started happening:
I had written to Canon and they basically responded like I was a 10 year old with ADD. "Use only Canon ink. Are you using the right paper for the job? Make sure the paper size is correct." Well, duh, let me get my fingers out of my ass and try these genius suggestions.... I've tried the cleaning options, the alignment options, the options to change the ink spread and usage, the dither and halftones and diffuse....I've shut down and reset.... There's no waste tank on these that might be gumming up the works. They won't take any other inks besides their own. Any ideas besides getting a brand new one?

I've not used Canon's inkjets much, but the Epson and HP printers that I am familiar with tend to allow you to change not just the ink tanks, but also the heads.
Does the problem always hit the same part of the sheet?

Have you tried to fool it?
If you print on Letter paper, but tell it you're printing on Legal, and crop the image, what happens then?

Didn't think about the fooling it part....
So, I decided that, due to deadlines looming, I needed to act quickly. We have a Lexmark we never used once the ink tanks ran out because they cost so much. I thought I'd get a top notch photo printer, but my CC refused the increase needed. Being too close to these deadlines, I didn't want to send the work out and risk it being wrong or late. I went to Staples, Lexmark cartridges in a bag to replace them. A)they didn't have the ones I needed and B) if they had, they'd have cost $80!!!!!! I bought an Epson R380 photo printer...with rebate and the $3 credit for the Lexmark cartridges, it came to only $19 more than had I bought the ink.... The Canon is sitting next to the second pc...still won't print photos(and the difference between what it did print and the Epson makes me think I should reprint EVERYTHING), so it will have to be used for documents until it completely craps out.
