The Big CS1, 2, 3 Help Thread

I figured a thread needed to be in here for anyone using any of the Adobe Creative Suite programs, like myself. Comments, questions, critiques, and hopefully answers.

I've been using GoLive (8.0.1) to build a website for my dad's church, and things have been going swimmingly. My only problem is that I'm not 100% sure how to add a .pdf download link. I've learned quite a bit of html working with GoLive, and I think that a downloadable .pdf by clicking on an image would look something like this (continued above):

<td align="center" valign="middle" width="40"><a href="file.pdf"><img src="picture.jpg" alt="" height="49" width="54" align="absmiddle" border="0" /></td>

The problem is that I can't test this because you can't download files in the preview mode. All I'd like is for people to simply click the link and be able to download a sermon in .pdf format.

Thanks for any help!

Edit: oh crap. Um, hit "quote" to see the code. Apparently, I code too well.

I personally use Adobe Dreamweaver to build and maintain a bevy of local businesses sites. I've found that it is a bit more intuitive than using GoLive! But hey flavor is flavor. I also use After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator quite often. I use After Effects (mainly its animation features) to easily make flash banners (not needing to know how to properly code a flash project is a nice thing) and I use Illustrator and Photoshop to create and manipulate most of the still images that I use in After Effects. I don't know a lot about these programs but if anyone had any questions I would endeavor to procure an answer.

wow man, i dunno how you totally fucked up the thread, but well played

didn't look at your code

but to have a link to a pdf from clicking on an image it would be

Code:

{href="url_to_your_pdf.pdf'}{img src="url_to_your_img.jpg}{/a}
where { is < and } is >.

(after looking at your code, you've got it right)

good job on fucking up this thread! I haven't used cs2 or 3 yet. but i've seen some awesome tutorials on how to use it and i'm impressed. Could this thread also be used to link to some tutorials on how to do stuff in these softwares? stuff that the help file might not give?
