When i get to the log on screen, it shows my name and under it, it says "you have 11 unread messages".

when i click on the link which says that, it tells me which accounts they are in.

my friend had just come over and he had used windows messenger, and now it counts his unread messages towards this total.

how can i remove an account from adding to this total?

found the solution

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail

go there in the registry and delete the folder's
