USB Keyboard question

Is there any way for me to get my USB/MIDI keyboard controller to send the message of hitting a note quicker to software synths/sequencers?

Yeah, I think you hit the wrong forum, and accidentally posted here.
You might wanna post/move this into Tilted Technology.

As for your question, I can't help ya there, bud. Sorry.
Maybe once in Technology, someone more savvy will give offer their advice.

Hope your issue gets resolved, bud.

maybe if you use a USB to PS2 converter and use it as a PS2 keyboard.

Are you talking about latency? That is controlled in your sound card configuration ASIO settings (if you're using ASIO).

You want to DECREASE the size of your buffer in order to DECREASE the latency.

I sometimes have to switch back and forth from small buffers for playing softsynths to large buffers when mixing.

What software and soundcard are you using?

Were you able to check your ASIO buffer settings? If so, did that help? I'm not really familiar with the 1010 (I use a Q10) but your manual should have something about buffers. If you're not using ASIO you probably should be ... I've never had luck with WDM and soft synths.

Of course, I forgot to ask what OS you are using.

Buffer settings

What is ASIO? Is DMA buffer size the number I want to change? right now the latency is at 256 samples. And I am using a windows system.

In Ableton Live you should have an option to select ASIO. I'm not sure where exactly ... I don't use Live.

ASIO is a standard for audio playback and recording. (Audio Stream Input Output).

Try lowering your buffer from 256 to 128; that should decrease the amount of time it takes to fill the buffer thus making your softsynth respond faster..

But first I'd see if you can switch to ASIO if you're not already using it. You might have to resort to the owner's manuals for both Live and the 1010 for this ASIO thing.

And you thought you could just plug the keyboard in and go. Ha.

Fix

Cool, it works now.

The biggest thing I now know is to change the buffer before opening up any programs that deal with the music creation.

Thanks.
