Disabling Dropdown URLs in Safari
In Mac OSX 10.4.8.
When manually typing addresses into the url pane, Safari automatically drops down a bunch of addresses closest in spelling to choose from. I'm trying to disable this feature. I understand this is based on bookmarks as opposed to history, so modifying history settings or removing the 'history.plist' file has no effect. Tried resetting, tried emptying cache, tried google, nothing works. Any help appreciated... |

I don't believe there's any control - user or hack - to disable that feature.
These days I mostly use FF.

So I just installed Firefox and...everything appears very un-osx like.
There are different shades of grey on just about every button, bar and tab. It seems pretty fast, though. Not sure how long I can cope with it. I was also getting some dropdowns in the url pane. Why do people generally like Firefox over Safari? I'll give it a few days...see how it works. Thanks for the suggestion. |
