3.5MM (1/8") Male to 3.5MM (1/8") Male connector. One end in the iPod headphone port, the other end there.
The stereo does not interface directly with the iPod, but it accepts the audio output. You may needto turn down the volume on the 'pod lest it distort the living fuck out of your radio.

Right. Basically a mini-headphone cable with male connectors at both ends. You should be able to get one at your local stereo store or even at a Dollar Store.

yeah, wouldn't you just need a standard headphone jack with a double male?
check newegg and search for "BELKIN Auto Kit for iPod w/ Dock Connector Model F8V7058-APL - Retail" It looks like it'll do the trick. And it charges your ipod while its running off your cig lighter.

Naw, you shouldn't need that Radioguy. The only difference is that the $30 item may break out the signal on a line-out level rather than a headphone level. They are close enough to not worry about.

tinfoil, i'd almost guarantee that it will take it on the line-out, because the signal is being broadcast through the port in the bottom of the ipod, not the headphone jack. i don't see the big distinction either, particularly for a car stereo.

hey radio, i'd consider one of those devices for the simple reason that it can recharge your ipod. i don't know if you travel much via vehicle, but when i go, i charge my phone and my ipod in the car. cuts down on electronics i have to move with me. just a thought.

sound quality. the fm broadcast has a frequent conflict with other broadcasting stations. i have one, which i paid a pretty penny for. it works fairly well, but when you're broadcasting on a station frequency, particularly in or around a big city, you can get a lot of interference from actual radio stations...so you're getting a lot of static unless you constantly adjust the frequency you broadcast over. with the "line out" functionality into your ipod compatible stereo, you get the pure feed from your ipod. if you want optimum sound quality, with capability of recharging your ipod on the fly, i would suggest purchasing the cheapest recharging unit that has the line-out capability. you get optimum sound quality, and you get a fully charged ipod when you get wherever you're going.
