Choice of GPS

Hi Gang,

After just coming back from a business trip to Toronto, my rental car had a GPS device installed which enabled me "get-lost" proof. So, I'm interested in getting a unit for my car as well but I'm kind of lost as to what are some of the good characteristics of a GPS. Basically I'm just looking not to get lost again with a trustworhty GPS.

Any idea/recommendations?

I have the Megallan cynthetiq has it, and I believe Justjess does to. I know we love it, no problems.

On a side note Tom Tom Go 910s, were just reported being produced with Trojan's on them not sure all the information but there was an article in PC Magazine or maybe it was PC World.

I'm not sure about car GPS, but for hiking/backcountry adventures I have really liked the Garmin eTrex Vista line. I have not bought one yet, but friends have it. The software to get topo maps (with trails) for various regions can get expensive, but when venturing off trail in the snow it is great to use for backtracking, or seeing what slopes I might be looking at over the next ridge.

I would imagine Garmin's auto GPS' would be of similar quality.

I have a TomTom Go 300 and it is fantastic.

I pay the subscription to the traffic service and the speed camera service, and it talks to my cellphone via bluetooth, calls the traffic data server when I plan a route and re-routes me past blockages.

I have had it for 13months, and have been totally satisfied.

I drive everyday for my job and they were kind enough to let me have a Garmin 2720. I have had it for a little over a year and it is great. The best features are the talking and the auto recalculation... I have actually just started shopping for one for my personal car and I am definitely staying with Garmin...

Ok, I'll go with TomTom since their feature are something I'm interested in (4 inch screen, touchscreen, database of locations, portable, car plug, voice direction, etc)

So, my question is this: Is this deal a good one for TomTom 910?
