Pop up blocker!
 

Ok, What I need right now, and have needed for quite some time, is a pop up blocker. Somebody turned me on to Stopzilla, but that requires sending them money...which I have no interest in doing. So who knows of a good free one. All suggestions are much appreciated!

Several people have listed pop-up blockers in the Windows Download threat on the Computer Board. You might check it out and see which one you like.

I personally like POW on analogx.com but to each their own.

The best I found was PopUp Cop. Werks nice.

Pop Up Stopper by panicware is my fav. I've tried many others, but came back to this one.

Gah, you should consider switching web browsers. All good web browsers support pop-up blocking internally.

Try Opera (free with a small ad that you can crack to get it registered) or Phoenix (free) or Mozilla (also free).

ZoneAlarm Pro has the best pop-up blocker I've ever used. It's only $50 and it's well worth it for all it's available functions.

Use this link. Very informative. This might not be as easy as just installing a piece of software, but you'll never have to worry about software timing out, or reg keys that get left behind, etc. I am personally using this style on my current machine. In short, it directs everything to your own hard drive, where it is assigned no IP address...or something like that (I did it months ago...my brain fails me tonight...!) Might not be for everybody, but a nice read just the same.

Either switch browsers to Opera or Mozilla, or try PoppupDummy...

Popup Cop Rocks

What I have to say came up a few times already in this thread, but it doesn't hurt saying it again. Mozilla and Phoenix/firebird have a nearly perfect stop-up blocker. Phoenix also has a whitelist function so you can allow certain sites to pop up stuff. mozilla 1.4 will have this too.

I use Opera, POW, and ZoneAlarm. I really don't like 'em ;)

(Even though having 2 of these 3 would be overkill).

I use the same thing. I love it. I haven't had a pop up since I started using it. I forgot about pop up hell until I was over a friends house and got killed. I hooked him up. :)

I used POW before I got my new firewall software and it's definitely a good way to go. If you can get your hands on a copy of Norton Personal Firewall 2003 it comes with an excellent popup blocker and banner killer, its only $50 at best buy right now and it will also protect your computer from H4x0r5. But if you're not wanting to spend money, I recommend POW

I use Popup Manager and it stops 99% of the popups I get. It's free and it doesn't bug you about the request 'donation'.

I've used POW, ZoneAlarm, Norton Personal Firewall 2003, and i find all three to work great, I like having a hotkey ability to turn it off and on, and some pop up stoppers don't let you have a new window in IE, they stop ALL new windows, so i dunno bout that feature, but I like the ones I mentioned above
