RAR files -- yeah i know

Yeah, I know that a bunch of people have problems with these types of files. I am one of them. I always seem to come across them when I download torrents. I have decided once and for all to learn how to handle these files. I have downloaded winrar. I know how to unpack them. I dont know what to do once I unpack the files though. I know its not difficult. I just never knew what to do next. I usually just get one winrar file. In this case I have about 60 winrar files that make up a computer game I downloaded last night. Could anyone give me a step by step on how to handle these damn files. Thanks!

Open the first one in the sequence.

Why does rar have a bad rep? Winrar is the first thing I download when setting up a new installation of windows.

If you extract the first file in the sequence, it should extract everything else. If not, highlight every rar file, right click on one, and select "extract to"

rar files are just zip files with a different compression algorithm.. nothing complicated about them

When you open up the first file and hit "Extract," it automatically knows to look for and decompress the other files in the sequence, as long as they're all in the same folder. You don't need to do something to each one of the files.

WinRAR is the most hideous program ever. I swore by it until last year, when I was all, "This program was great ... in 1999!"

Now I swear by 7Zip, which is gorgeous by comparison. That is one of the first things I install with Windows.

I use RAR every day. Have for at least 10 years.

The only thing I don't like is that there is no option to try the last password.
The password that opened the last archive.

that would defeat the idea of a password.

no. Since I may download 10 RAR's from one site that always uses the same password, a checkbox in RAR to try the last password makes sense to me. On error it could still prompt.

its an issue of security, they will never implement it.

Perhaps I could use a script to call rar with a specified password.
I do have Take Command installed.
