Retrieving programs?

My newer dell pc came with word perfect and I hate it.

I have an external HD from my last pc that died is there any way to get MS Office 2002 off that? Other programs too? I had stuff I really liked.

I tried but couldn't figure it out. I'd appreciate any input.

you can't just copy a program over like office, you need the instalation disks. however, getdata back is a wonderful data recovery program.

give a call to the company, say your disk is damamged... or you could always try to find it on bit torrent, just use your legal cd key.

Have you tried downloading a trial edition of the software, then activating it with your key?

Finally getting back to you, I looked at MS website and they want $35 for email or phone support of any kind. I won't pay for this not knowing what they are going to say. I went to download it but my version is Office 2002 and can't find it, So I then just downloaded Office XP Pro from bit torrent and it's a DAA file, what's this? I can't open it, I don't know what to do with it?

I'm lost again. You guys are good, so I'm sure you will have some other suggestions. Thanks again!

A couple of things i can think of...

Did you old PC die or did the old Hard Disk die? Is it possible to make your old HD the primary HD, or are the OSs different?

Otherwise, how technical are you and how complete is the old disk. Also do you have a Registry backup from the old machine? Office has files in Program files, some in the User's application data and registry settings. it is a tough nut to crack, but it is doable...

Some other programs may be able to be run from the old location it all depepnds on if they put their information in teh registry, or if they stored the License information in the user directory...

.DAA opens with PowerISO, but I suppose you'd need to illegally pop that and that's not cool on this forum.

Since you have a legit copy, idk, try just getting a torrent of something else and you can justify it as an "upgrade" Look for torrents with .ISO files.

Also, check your old hard drive for install files for office. Don't they copy themselves over??

Microsoft Windows Key Gen 2003 or XP Pro or Office-XP keygen(1)
Microsoft Windows Key Gen.
2003 or XP Pro or Office-XP keygen(1).zip

Is this what I'm looking for? When it says key gen, is that the one I enter my code into?

No. A key-gen is a "key generator" for creating illegal CD keys (for those of us who havent purchased it)
