HELP! Please.
Hi, Urgent need of help please...
So, I reformatted my C drive, following instructions from the Microsoft site. I booted from the CD, reformatted..everything fine. The reformatting finishes, I type exit--computer restarts.. Now, I select to boot from CD. Screen comes up....gives me the option to reinstall windows..I hit ENTER. Asks me where I want to install it, and I select the C drive, as it has the most memory available. THE PROBLEM: At this point my laptop just shuts off, screen goes black, power off..almost as if someone took off the battery and unplugged the adapter. I turn the laptop on again, same thing, just shuts off at this point..can anyone please help.. Thanks. Ok, I managed to get past that screen, and start the installation of Windows..it gets to 50%, then boom, turns off..any ideas? Last edited by danny_boy; 12-17-2006 at 01:33 PM.. Does the notebook have an internal power supply (or an external one). If external, does it have a power light on it?
My guess is that your power connection is intermittent (maybe a loose wire or something) and your batter is only getting a small charge (your battery almost might be on its way out...).

what made you want to reformat all in the first place? was something acting up? could it be the hard drive is going out? Check all the silly stuff you wouldnt think it would ever be. is the cd clean? are you sure the cd drive works right? I havnt ever heard of this happening to anyone before but i have had some trouble in the past installing windows and doing crazy stuff like this because the battery on my motherboard was going dead. Dunno if something like that could be a problem with a laptop or not.
