The Apple Newton was way before it's time. Hence, wasn't very successful. But it did set something. The Pocket PCs of today ...
If Apple were to rejuvenate the Newton. Heck, I'd be looking for tools to sync it to PC. *sigh* I couldn't afford an iMac or iBook G4. *sob* |

At that time we had a "closed door" meeting with Compaq and they were proposing the release of a handheld computer to compete with the Newton. We didn't see any prototypes but they essentially said "we're working on a confidential project and would you buy and use a handheld computer if we released it?" I don't recall our answer but I think it was a realistic "no." This was in the early 90s. I read a new blurb somewhere that said Apple had no plans to enter the PDA market. We'll see.
