Easy Hard Drive Question
I have a 180 gig SATA hard drive. I'm getting close to filling it up, so I picked up a 300 gig one on sale. Afterward, it occurred to me that I have never cloned one of these, and I only have one SATA connection in my computer.
Will I need to buy a card with another ATA connection to clone my existing drive? If so, how much should one cost? And finally, is this a really stupid question? ![]() |

I’ve never seen a hard drive with both a SATA and a PATA data connector, just a dual power connector, i just took a look and nothing. Depending on your motherboard, and on the OS you will clone the drives under, you may be able to get away with using a USB to SATA connector. or, you could always get a PATA drive, and clone to that, then clone from the pata to the new sata. You could also get a PATA TO SATA converter

Easy question back at you. Are you sure the board only has one SATA connector? No others specified for RAID?
This is just in case. It'd sure make the transfer simpler. Dilbert, my current favorite: http://www.usbgeek.com/prod_detail.php?prod_id=0383
