modding windows
Hi, I'm in the middle of modding my windows 2000 pc and that one thing that i have'nt managed to change the image that yuo get when its loading up and at the logon screen. I have used resource hacker to change the windows 2000 images in C:\winnt\system32\ntosknrl and it still hasn't changed it.
This is the image i'm trying to change: http://www.soapplab.auckland.ac.nz/i.../Win-logon.jpg I just don't know where to locate it. Thanks, Chris. |
Just a wild-assed guess here but is the modded file changing back? That'd mean you need to change both the system32 version and the system32\dllcache version because WFP is watching guard.
Seems like that was in ntlogon but I haven't dug through those files in a while. |
I found that it's the msgina.dll file in the system32 folder. I opened it in resource hacker and changed the apropriate file and saved it under a new name, then wen't into the registry using regedit and searched for msgina.dll and replaced all the ones i could find with the new name of the file and changed the (default) value do the file location also but still no luck.
