Screen blanker - how to remove logon
WinXP used to blank the screen after 10 minutes of no keyboard/mouse activity.
This is fine with me. Now, after an install of something - I don't know what - a logon is needed to restore activity after a screen blank. This is not only anoying but interfers with some programs. I have not found a string to enter into Google to fix this - to remove the logon after a screen blank. Can someone help, please. BTW, this did not help: * Select Run from the Start Menu, type control userpasswords2, and click Ok. * Turn off the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer option, and click Ok. |

To remove the logon after the screen saver comes up, right click on your desktop, then click properties. On the properties screen, click the Screen Saver tab. You should see a check box that says "On resume, display Welcome screen". If I understand your problem, this should probably take care of it. ::

glytch, The box was not checked.
It seems when I used regedit and put a zero where there was already a zero in two places, it changed something somewhere. The problem went away. By the time I checked your suggestion the problem was gone. Maybe if I had tried your suggestion first I would have found a check in the box. |
