Streaming video woes
Why do I have so many problems with streaming video? I admit I know nothing, and some other posters have the same problems I do, and others don't. I am running an AMD 2500 with a gig of ram on a Gigabyte G-force 6600GT 128 and a Dell monitor at 1680x1050 and 32 bit color. I have a nice fat broadband pipe. The videos open WMP automatically and buffer, then play for about 15 seconds and pause to buffer some more. Soon it is A: a slide show, or B: upside down and green. What can I do Oh Gurus?

Well, this weekend I wiped my HD and reinstalled Win XP Pro. I have Media Player Classic, VLC Media Player, PowerDVD, and WMP9. I installed the defaults from the K-lite standard codec package. Everything plays fine EXCEPT streaming video. When I click on the link for mss links, I get a screen saying that WMP needs to launch. I click yes. After about 30 seconds to a minute the video turns green and upside down. Can I use another app, say, Media Player Classic? How do I do this to bypass the WMP launch screen? I've searched this site and googled, but I haven't found a solution tha works, or is understandable to a non-code geek. Any help?

The upside down green is a known bug in media player 10. Microsoft has a patch. Get it here.
