Good price on external HD?
Hi everyone. I'm thinking of purchasing an external hard drive to store media (since my computer's hard drive is tiny) and to lug it around on trips instead of binders of dvds. I saw this one on futureshop's website
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0077170&catid= I was wondering if it was a good deal and/or product. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I bought a Seagate 250GB 7200RPM IDE HDD with 5 years warranty and a Cooler Master XCraft external enclosure with USB2.0 interface for
RM 295 + RM 150 = RM 445 That converts to about.. USD 118. A good casing matters so that the HDD doesn't heat up too much. Good warranty matters so that you can get RMA-ed when it gets bad sectors.

It says nothing about the casing, but claims the hard drive is cool-running. Any thoughts? Would any of you dissuade me from getting the first one? I don't really want to spend $270 for the one in this post, but I guess I would spend that much (either on this one or something else) if it really is that much better ie: won't break in a few years.

I would prefer to get a case that is seperate from the drive, this gives more vesatility where you could buy a 250Gb drive today, and later you could buy a 800Gb and put in in the same case...
it also gives you the ability to reuse some old drives or help out a friend with an old drive to a new computer.

One of my friends suggested I get a separate case and use a normal internal hard drive. It sounds like a good plan, i'll see how much this is going to cost me.
