I'm sorry I didn't answer this sooner but this question might be better posed in the computer forum...
You want the iPod version of Videora. It can encode DirectShow movies (basically, AVIs) for use on your iPod. Unfortunately, there are many caveats but at least none of them have to do with price or advertising. First, the last time I updated the firmware of the video iPod (which was the very first update for it), a lot of my videora iPod videos failed to work properly. This has forced me to never updgrade the firmware. It's unclear if this is a deliberate attempt of Apple to force people to buy a commercial copy of Quicktime or not... Secondly, you may need more (free) software to encode mpegs and/or if you find that the audio falls out of sync with the video. If this is the case, you will need to combine the use of the AVIsynth frame server with Videora to encode mpegs or ensure audio sync. Unfortunately, you need to be somewhat computer savvy to use it (much like running Linux). I hope this helps... |
