Backlighting and MacBooks

I have an important meeting in the morning and my @&#@*! 6mo old &@!^#$ laptop backlighting just fritzed. Gah!

Sure, I can take along an external flatscreen but this could be my excuse. Who uses a MacBook daily and would you buy it again?

Probably aiming for 90% XP vs MacOS. I'd be dual-booting until virtualization looks solid.

Any luck pulling a fonzie on it? We have a G4 iMac that has a CC tube that has a short, giving it a good bump on the side fixes it every time.

As for my white MacBook I couldn't be more happy. Love it to death and it goes everywhere with me. No problems yet or complaints, knock on wood. I use Parallels with no problems, the only issue with duel booting is that it is beta ware, and if you read the EULA it expires in Sept. of '07

Heh. It hasn't been intermittent. It just went dark and hasn't lit up since. I tried a few things including bonking, thumping, whacking, and stern gazes. Even drained power and restored BIOS defaults with an external screen attached. Not very portable. The rest of the time staring at a flashlight illuminated screen just isn't getting it. Mr FedX will do the honors tonight.

Time to hit the Mac store. I doubt I'll buy one yet but while the cat's away ya'know.

i love my MacBook Pro so much. The light is fantastic on it. I would imagine a regular MacBook would be good too. Also I figured I would use 90%XP vs. OS X before I got it, but now I mostly use OS X except for games!

An lump of coal is brighter than my HP. It went to its maker Friday. I'd have gone the u-fix-it route but the warranty gods don't smile upon that sort of thing. Laptop service is one of the most annoying computer potholes.

The choice of OS for my haul-around-to-customer-site-machine is largely made by my customers. Now, Parallels might do the trick if it does good XP uptimes.

Still have to stop by a Mac store.

Parallels is fantastic software. I paid $40 before the initial release to get it cheap, as it will retail for $80. Still got time to get it at $50!

Sorry about your backlit keys =( That's almost the whole reason I bought the dang thing LOL.

Good to hear you like Parallels. I bet they keep the price down, by selling to Apple or partnering. Dual-boot is nice but virtualization is hot. Win solutions are becoming so very cheap.

It wasn't key backlighting. It was the screen. Lighted keys might just get an opaque paint treatment. That's a little bling for this geezer.

you can turn the lighted keys off also.

I may try the virtualization at some point.
