Anyone using newsgroups here?
Hi everyone, i have no idea where else to post this thread so i'll post it here...
My ISP has recently pulled the plug on its news server. Then i looked for other free news servers that worked, but apparently they don't support posting messages. Does anyone know a free news server that allows posting? |

You can access most of Usenet via Google Groups, but not binaries.

Well, if you need access to the binaries then... No, you will unlikely find a free one.
So, since I know you will pay for it (or go without it), may I suggest EasyNews. It has incredible bandwidth and good retention at excellent prices! They also support sourceforge, so if you've ever used free software before, please support this site by giving EasyNews your business... Thank you! |

yottanews.com offers 1 gig of free usenet access per month. A bit slow but if you want binaries for free it's probably one of the best choices.

$40/3 months unlimited downloads, max 4 connections and I max out my 5mbps cable line, great retention on all the popular groups, as far as anon posting I cannot tell you I don't post a whole lot if anything.

I used to use newsgroups a heap.
These days though, the usenet is full of shit. By this I mean spam, as well as kids asking stupid questions without making some attempt to solve their problem first. So yeah - if I go on a comp. forum I'd expect to find somebody whose' keyboard is broken. If I go to a science forum, it'll be some kid wanting help with an assignment. |
